Name development for an Opel SUV model

Opel's first generic name for a long time? Made by Endmark.

Back to the roots of product naming

After a long era of abstratct names, Opel is moving back towards traditional symbols such as Manta, Ascona and Rekord. However, new model names should still fit the Opel & Vauxhall brand portfolio.

The new product range does not have an engine that falls below the 100HP mark. Accordingly, the new brand name should appeal to active people who are always on the move and also be internationally and culturally accessible.

Brevity is the soul of branding

Our challenge: how do we implement all these aspects in a short, concise name that is not yet on the market?

A question that guides us through the strategic development process. And it is a coffee break that inspires our answer: strong, active, globally popular? It's time for a hot drink.

After a few detailed checks relating to international brands and linguistic research, the decision for the new Opel product range is as easy as the new brand's pronunciation. MOKKA.

As intense as the target group's experience. And as steeped in tradition as Opel itself.

Your way to the right brand strategy.
